5-2-1-0 is an important set of numbers in the healthy living curriculum we share with families. It's a tool created by the Let's Go program that our college mentors teach to kids in our program to help them remember important daily guidelines for healthy living:
5: Eat 5 servings of veggies and fruit
2: Keep daily screen time under 2 hours
1: Spend 1 hour or more getting physically active
0: Zero sugary beverages - choose water!
Not only are these guidelines healthy, but they are also realistic! While there is now tons of buzz around nutrition information and "diet culture," we love having basic principles to follow that target four, different key areas of health. These changes are small, but they are impactful.
Having a message that is easily relatable to the kiddos is something we strive to provide. But having a message like 5-2-1-0 that works for the whole family is a win-win!
This holiday season, we are hosting our 2nd annual #GivingTuesday fundraiser. Our campaign this year, #SNACKGiveANDGo5210, is highlighting the 5-2-1-0 guidelines that are an important part of our curriculum. We will be holding a 5-2-1-0 social media challenge that you and the whole family can participate in! Be sure to check in with us on Instagram and Facebook (@thesnackprogram) for updates.
With Love,
The SNACK Program
